The new GSX-8R has won MCN’s recent sportsbike shootout, beating five of its rivals to the top spot.

“The GSX-8R is sublime” the test reads, with the 8R praised for its blend of genuine sporting prowess, as well as comfort and usability.

Awarded five stars, it saw off competition from Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Triumph, and Aprilia.

In the verdict, the 8R was lauded for “being “so easy to ride fast” and for being “comfortable to ride slow.” According to testers, it “hits the sweet spot across all bases.”

In summary, the 8R is the “complete package, one that encompasses comfort, performance, handling, electronics and of course the price.”

On a monthly PCP deal it is also the most affordable of the bunch, thanks to Suzuki’s current 4.9% APR representative finance offer.

The GSX-8R uses the new 776cc parallel twin engine, which propelled the GSX-8S to MCN’s Naked Bike of the Year award following its launch in 2023. The torque-laden motor is housed in a steel frame, equipped with Showa suspension front and rear and radial Nissin front calipers.

An electronics package comprises a bi-directional quickshifter as standard, plus multiple power and traction control modes, all controlled by intuitive switchgear and a colour TFT screen.
